Delhi government on Monday issued an order banning the use of all kinds of firecrackers. It also prohibits the manufacture, storage, and sale of firecrackers, including delivery via online marketing platforms.

Delhi bans firecrackers until January 1 to curb air pollution; Police seize over 1,300 illegal firecrackers

PTC News Desk: The Delhi government on Monday issued an order banning the use of all kinds of firecrackers. It also prohibits the manufacture, storage, and sale of firecrackers, including delivery via online marketing platforms.

“There will be a 'complete ban' on all kinds of firecrackers on manufacturing, storage, selling (including delivery through online marketing platforms) and bursting of all kinds of firecrackers up to 01.01.2025 in the territory of NCT of Delhi,” the order by Delhi Pollution Control Committee stated.


The order directed the Delhi police to strictly enforce the ban and submit action-taken reports to the committee on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Delhi Police arrested three people accused of illegally supplying firecrackers and recovered more than 1,300 kg of illegal firecrackers.

Satish Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (crime), stated, "Total 1,323 kilograms of banned crackers were seized from two godowns. The owner of both the godowns and the driver who used to supply the crackers were nabbed."

On Friday, after receiving a tip, police raided Baprola village in outer Delhi and found a large cache of illegal firecrackers.

The accused were identified as Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Atri, and Vipin Kumar.
