‘Delhi Chalo’: 200 tractor trolleys join protest at Punjab-Haryana border; tear-gas used

PTC News Desk: The farmers' protest at the Shambhu border persisted into its second day on Wednesday, with reports emerging of police firing teargas shells at the demonstrators.

Approximately 400 meters away from the barrier, farmers have been steadfast in their agitation, determined to press for their demands.

Soon, farmer leaders are expected to convene a meeting to deliberate on their next course of action.

Despite the police intervention, farmers remain resolute, with many claiming that tear gas firing from Haryana authorities persisted late into Tuesday night. However, this information could not be independently verified.

The protest received a significant boost on Wednesday morning as around 200 tractor-trolleys joined the demonstration. The convoy of tractor-trolleys, now stretching over 4 kilometers along the highway, underscores the growing momentum of the movement.

Additionally, the Punjab government has alerted nearby government hospitals and community health centers. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh is slated to visit the injured farmers in Rajpura, offering support and solidarity.

Amidst the escalating tensions, farmers gathered at the border remain resolute in their determination to cross into Haryana and ultimately reach Delhi. Their unwavering resolve underscores the significance and urgency of their demands.
