Delhi HC to hear Manish Sisodia's bail plea on April 6 in excise policy case

New Delhi, April 5: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has moved the Delhi High Court for bail, challenging a trial court order denying him bail in a CBI case involving alleged irregularities in the Union Territory government's excise policy framing and implementation.

The bail petition will be heard by Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma of the Delhi High Court on Thursday, April 6. In dismissing Sisodia's bail application last week, the trial Court stated, "The court is not inclined to release him on bail at this stage of investigation of the case as his release may adversely affect the ongoing investigation and will also seriously hamper the progress."

Special Judge MK Nagpal denied the bail plea, stating that the allegations against Sisodia are serious in nature and that at this stage of the case, he does not deserve to be released on bail because he was arrested in this case only on February 26 and the investigation into his role is still ongoing.

According to the CBI, Sisodia played the most crucial and vital part in the criminal conspiracy, and he was deeply involved in both the development and implementation of the aforementioned policy to assure the achievement of the conspiracy's objectives.
