Dramatic rescue of 27 as bus overturns on flooded road in Haryana
In one of many sights of despair across north India amid heavy rains, at least 27 people were rescued from a bus that overturned on a flooded road in Haryana.
The people were seen standing atop an overturned bus waiting to be rescued.
The bus reportedly from Himachal Pradesh overturned on the flooded Ambala-Yamunanagar road. Passengers stranded in the surging floodwaters were rescued using a crane.
Meanwhile, 38 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh as the rain continued to fall on Day 3 in these states.
The NDRF has 15 teams in Punjab, 12 in Uttarakhand, and 11 in Himachal Pradesh. The NDRF has some reserve squads ready to confront any challenge in an emergency situation in Delhi, where the Yamuna river is predicted to reach 205.5 metres by tomorrow morning.
IMD has issued a red alert for Chandigarh, Panchkula (Haryana) and Mohali (Punjab) as heavy rainfall is expected in next three hours.
