Fake X post claiming RSS attacked Col Sofiya Qureshi's home in Karnataka busted by cops

PTC News Desk: A viral post on social media platform X is claiming that suporters of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) vandalised the family home of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi in Karnataka's Belagavi.

The post, made by a user under the name Anees Uddin, claimed that Colonel Qureshi and her son were assaulted, their house set on fire, and hate slogans raised suggesting Muslims have no place in India.

Another user, @JN_Araain, wrote: “RSS hate strikes again! Col Sophia Qureshi, Muslim Indian Army officer & spokesperson, targeted. Her Belagavi home attacked at 3 AM, son Sameer brutally beaten, house torched. Family now under Army protection in Delhi. #RSSViolence #HindutvaHate #JusticeForSophia.”

The posts also inaccurately claimed that Colonel Qureshi was targeted by an RSS hit list and that her family was relocated to Delhi under the protection of the Indian Army due to security threats. Another user, @BattlesInsight, reinforced this narrative, asserting: “Col Sophia Qureshi’s residence in Belagavi was attacked by RSS extremists. Her son was assaulted, the house set on fire, and threats were made. The family was shifted to Delhi with Army protection amid escalating dangers.”

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a senior officer in the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals, gained national recognition during Operation Sindoor, India’s military retaliation to the Pahalgam Terror Attack. She played a prominent role in the official briefing, representing the Army alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. This was a historic moment for the Indian military, as it featured two female officers at the forefront of the country’s public response to a counter-terror operation.
