From Aadhar-Pan link to ATM Withdrawal Fees: 7 financial changes effective today
PTC News Desk: Mandatory Aadhaar card for new pan applications, changes in income tax filings changes to booking of train tickets, these are amongst those changes that are slated to come into effect starting today.
Aadhaar Needed For New PAN
The Central Board of Direct Taxes has made Aadhaar verification mandatory for PAN card applications. Existing PAN holders must link their Aadhaar numbers by December 31. Non-compliance with new rules can lead to deactivation of existing PAN.
Tatkal Train Ticket Bookings
Minor surge in ticket fare is expected. This hike may range from 1 paisa per km for non-AC coaches to two paise for AC coaches. Aadhaar verification will also be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets.
ITR Filing Deadline
The deadline for filing Income Tax Return has been extended from July 31 to September 15. This gives salaried individuals an additional 46 days to complete filings.
Delhi to ban Fuel for overaged vehicles
The Delhi government has announced to enforce a complete fuel ban on End-of-Life (EoL) vehicles from July 1. According to the new system, Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras are being installed at all 520 petrol and diesel stations in Delhi. These cameras will automatically capture the registration numbers of vehicles entering fuel stations and check them against the VAHAN database.
Railway waiting charting to be prepared early
The Indian Railways will now prepare the reservation chart eights hours before the departure time giving additional time to the passengers to make alternative travel arrangements.
RBI extends call money market hours
The Reserve Bank of India has extended the interbank call money market trading window from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. to 9 a.m.-7 p.m. IST, effective July 1. This enables banks to borrow and lend funds for an additional two hours each day.
ATM Withdrawal Fees
Several banks including Axix Bank has increased the charges for ATM transactions beyond monthly free limit for savings, NRI, trust account holders.
