G20 Presidency: India to host over 200 meetings at 50 locations

Chandigarh, January 30: Emphasising on G20 Presidency in India, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stated that India to organise over 200 meetings across 50 locations under G20. 

In the meanwhile, a meeting on International Financial Architecture working group (IFAWG) also took place in Chandigarh on Monday which was inaugurated by Tomar.

While addressing the event he said the statement about G20 Presidency in India.

He further added that, "It's a moment of pride and joy that we're organising events in the country under our G20 presidency. Over 200 meetings will be organised at over 50 locations in the country. Around 2 lakh representatives will come to India."

Tomar also laid emphases on importance of G20 meetings in India. He added that,"Initially we tried having meetings like these in Delhi itself, in Bangalore or Hyderabad. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted that all the representatives from different parts of the world who will attend the G20 meetings should see the real India. They should see India's tourism, the villages of the country, the techniques used here, infrastructure, the academic institutions and the situation of financial inclusion in India."

"The Prime Minister also stressed that the G20 representatives should have a look at the diversity of terrains and environments in the country. We will try that the people who visit the country take back wonderful memories from here," he added.

Representing India on world map, Tomar stated that India's traditions, values, history, specialities and diversity will reach the world through these meetings.

He further added that Global issue will be discussed through G20 meetings.  The entire world would be benefitted from these discussions. G20 will prove to be a meaningful, useful and fruitful platform for the benefit of the country and the world.
