Slain gangster Atiq Ahmed's youngest son Aban Ahmed killed in road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi
PTC News Desk: Slain gangster-turned politician Atiq Ahmed's youngest son Aban Ahmed was killed in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi on Thursday while travelling to meet his jailed brother, police said.
According to police, Aban was travelling with four others when their vehicle crashed into a highway divider. The impact was so severe that the front of the vehicle was completely crushed. Aban and another passenger died on the spot, while the three injured occupants were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests the group was travelling from Prayagraj to Jhansi to meet Ali Ahmed, who is lodged in Jhansi District Jail after being shifted there from Naini Central Jail on October 1, 2025.
Ali Ahmed has been in jail since surrendering in an extortion case. He is also an accused in the February 2023 murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case. Investigators have alleged that the conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal was planned from inside the jail.
Police believe that after the death of his father, gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed, Ali took control of the criminal syndicate known as IS-227.
On April 15, 2023, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed, who were facing more than 100 criminal cases, including the Umesh Pal murder case, were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists. The attack took place during a media interaction while police were escorting the brothers to a medical college in Prayagraj for a medical check-up.
