Goa club fire: Police approaches CBI, seeks Interpol Blue Notice as owners flee to Thailand, their second club to be demolished
PTC News Desk: In a significant development, the Goa Police has approached the CBI for issuance of an Interpol Blue Notice against Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, owners of the Goa nightclub where massive blaze killed 25 lives and they fled the country shortly after.
Goa Police said on Monday that Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora where the fire incident occurred on Saturday, are suspected to have escaped to Phuket, Thailand, just a few hours after the tragedy.
An Interpol Blue Notice has been issued to gather information about the accused.
A Blue Corner Notice is part of Interpol’s colour-coded alert system, which helps member countries exchange information for criminal investigations. According to Interpol, this notice is used to collect details about a person’s identity, location, or activities when they are wanted for questioning in a case.
Reportedly, Hours after the deadly inferno broke out at Goa's nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, killing at least 25 people late on Saturday night, police officials said that the owners have fled to Phuket. Until now the police had been looking for them.
Right after an FIR was registered against them, a police team went to Delhi to look for the two accused — Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra. However, they were not found at their home, so the police left a notice there.
Meanwhile, a pub owned by the Luthra brothers will be demolished by bulldozers, according to media reports.
