Haryana: Woman ASI on way to duty killed in fog-related accident near Gohana in Sonepat
PTC Web Desk: A woman Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Haryana Police died in a road accident on the Greenfield Highway near Gohana in Sonepat district, Haryana, on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred when she was travelling from Sonepat to Jind to report for duty.
According to the police, as there was dense fog in the area, the ASI’s car rammed into an overloaded truck that was reportedly parked on the highway. Due to the poor visibility caused by the fog, the parked vehicle could not be spotted in time, leading to the fatal collision. The impact was so severe that she died on the spot, and her car was badly mangled.
Local passersby immediately informed the police. A team from Gohana police station reached the spot, took stock of the situation, and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital in Gohana for post-mortem examination. The damaged vehicle was removed from the road to restore traffic flow on the busy highway.
The deceased officer has been identified as ASI Seema, a resident of Murthal village in Sonepat district. She was posted at the Court Complex police outpost in Jind and was on her way to duty at the time of the accident.
The truck driver fled the spot after the accident. The police have registered a case against an unidentified driver and launched a search operation.
