PTC Web Desk:  The Hemkunt Sahib Yatra in Uttarakhand has resumed after a temporary suspension due to heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, and landslides in Uttarakhand. Pilgrims are once again arriving with devotion and enthusiasm to bow their heads at the revered Sikh shrine. The annual pilgrimage will continue until October 10, when the shrine’s doors will be ceremonially closed for the season.

The Uttarakhand Government had earlier halted the Char Dham Yatra and Hemkunt Sahib Yatra until September 5 due to adverse weather conditions. The journey was officially reopened on September 6.

Speaking on the occasion, Narinderjit Singh Bindra, president of the Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust, confirmed that devotees are returning in significant numbers despite the recent floods in Punjab and the challenging weather conditions in the region. He noted that this spirit reflects the Sikh community’s tradition of Chardi Kala (eternal optimism) and deep faith in their Guru.

The Trust also informed that the long-awaited ropeway project for facilitating pilgrims has moved to its next stage, which will further improve accessibility in the future. Additionally, helicopter services will resume from September 15, providing a convenient option for devotees unable to undertake the trek on foot or those pressed for time.

Authorities and the Gurdwara Management Committee are ensuring maximum safety and comfort for devotees. Measures include medical assistance, secure trekking routes, and the availability of helicopter services, all aimed at making the pilgrimage smoother and safer.
