Indian-American CEO calls Air India business class experience ‘worst,’; airline issues full refund
PTC Web Desk: Air India finds itself in the spotlight again after Anip Patel, CEO of CaPatel Investments, publicly criticised the airline's business class service. Patel, an Indian-American businessman, shared his negative experience on social media, detailing his recent non-stop flight from New Delhi to Chicago. Calling it the "worst" flying experience of his life, he expressed dissatisfaction with both the amenities and overall conditions of the first-class cabin.
In a now-viral video posted on Instagram and TikTok, Anip Patel showcased various issues, including loose compartment parts, worn-out and damaged seating, stains, and unclean conditions. He also mentioned a lack of Wi-Fi and non-functional in-flight entertainment on the 15-hour journey.
"I had hoped for better service under Air India's new management, but the reality was disappointing. The flight was uncomfortable, the cabin was dirty, and the overall condition of the plane was substandard. There was no Wi-Fi, and the entertainment system was down for the entire flight," Patel explained on Instagram.
His post has sparked widespread conversation online, with many users sharing similar experiences. One user commented, "I cannot understand why anyone would choose to fly Air India." Others expressed hope that the airline’s new planes would eventually improve its service.
Despite the unpleasant experience, Patel revealed that Air India refunded him the full $6,300 (Rs 5.2 lakh) without needing to file an official complaint. "They made it right in the end," Patel commented, expressing satisfaction with the resolution.
