IndiGo flight chaos: Full normalcy expected in three says, says Aviation Minister Naidu; orders probe to identify root cause

PTC Web Desk: Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Friday announced a series of urgent operational steps to tackle the ongoing disruption of IndiGo flights, including the suspension of the newly introduced flight duty rules. The move aims to stabilise operations after four consecutive days of large-scale cancellations and delays across the airline’s network.

Naidu said the government has also ordered a high-level inquiry to identify the root cause of the disruptions and fix responsibility for the operational collapse.

In an official statement, the minister said that the Civil Aviation Ministry has taken “swift and proactive” action to ease the situation. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) revised Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) norms have been kept in abeyance with immediate effect.

He stressed that the decision has been taken “without compromising air safety” and is aimed at safeguarding the interests of passengers, including senior citizens, students, patients, and others, who depend on timely air travel.

Naidu added that the operational instructions issued to airlines are expected to show immediate results. “Flight schedules should begin to stabilise by Saturday, and we are confident that full normalcy will be restored within the next three days,” he said.
