J-K: 'Explosion' heard after unprovoked firing on BSF posts by Pak Rangers
Border Security Force personnel reported an 'explosion' late Thursday evening, just hours after Pakistan Rangers opened fire on BSF troops on the International Border in the RS Pura sector.
The BSF in Jammu stated that it responded to the Pakistan Rangers' ceasefire violation and unprovoked firing on their posts in the Arnia area.
The Pakistani side began ceasefire violations around 8 p.m., according to the BSF.
According to a local, a heavy exchange of fire between BSF troopers and Rangers occurred around 8 p.m. and was still "going on."
"There was a heavy exchange of fire (between the BSF troops and Pakistan Rangers). The (international) border is just one and a half kilometres from here. The locals panicked as the Pakistan forces resorted to unprovoked firing and stayed indoors. The exchange of fire is ongoing," the local stated.
More information is awaited.
