Jammu and Kashmir encounter: Security forces neutralise one terrorist as operation enters third day

PTC News Desk: In a joint operation by security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police, a terrorist was neutralised on third day of its operation on Friday in dense forests of Chhatru in Kishtwar district, officials said. 


The operation was launched on April 9 based on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist movement in the area. Troops from the Indian Army, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, initiated a search-and-destroy mission in the Chhatru forest region.

"Op Chhatru Based on specific intelligence, a joint search and destroy operation along with J&K Police was launched on 09 Apr in Chhatru forest Kishtwar. Contact was established late evening on the same day. The terrorists were effectively engaged and firefight ensued. One terrorist has thus far been neutralised. Despite hostile terrain & adverse weather, relentless operations by our brave Soldiers continues," White Knight Corps said in a post on X.

The operation is being carried out under severe circumstances as the district Chatroo is located near the Mughal Maidan passes at an altitude exceeding 8,000 feet above sea level.
