Maharashtra giant wheel accident: Woman's hair gets caught in ferris wheel, scalp ripped off
PTC News Desk: A 25-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district suffered a serious injury after her hair got caught in the rotating bearing of a giant wheel at a local fair. The incident resulted in a large portion of her scalp being torn off.
The incident took place on Friday during a one-day fair organised for the Tanha Pola festival in Mahagaon taluka. The annual fair attracted a large number of women and children from nearby villages, who had gathered to seek blessings at the Puneshwar Mahadev temple.
The injured woman was identified as Bali Maroti Talikote, a resident of Phulsawangi. She was riding the giant wheel when the accident occurred.
As the ride picked up speed, Talikote’s hair became entangled in a rotating bearing behind her seat. The ride continued spinning, causing a sudden and powerful pull that severely injured her scalp.
She screamed in pain as the force tore away a significant portion of her scalp. Her cries alerted other visitors, who were shocked to see her covered in blood.
The incident triggered panic at the fair, prompting police personnel stationed at the venue to intervene.
Assistant Police Inspector Sunil Ambhure and Police Constable Suhas Kayte immediately reached the spot. With the help of local residents, they managed to stop the rapidly spinning giant wheel.
Talikote was subsequently taken for medical treatment following the serious injury.
