Massive fire at parking area of Varanasi railway station, over 200 vehicles charred

A massive fire broke out in the vehicle parking area of Varanasi's Cantt railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning, charring at least 200 two-wheelers.

Massive fire at parking area of Varanasi railway station, over 200 vehicles charred

PTC News Desk: A massive fire broke out in the vehicle parking area of Varanasi's Cantt railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning, charring at least 200 two-wheelers. 

Visuals show a massive fire in the parking lot as firefighters and police officers struggled to extinguish it. In one of the videos, a team of police officers can be seen carrying a water hose to the scene and splashing water on the fire. Massive smoke and smoke-induced haze can also be seen.


According to officials, around 12 fire trucks arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, as did teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police.

There were no reported injuries.

According to the initial inquiry, the fire was sparked by a short circuit.

Officials said the fire was put out within two hours.
