MP shocker: Teen student gives birth in washroom during Class 10 board exam, case under investigation
PTC Web Desk: A sensitive and concerning incident has emerged from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, where a 17-year-old student delivered a premature baby while appearing for her Class 10 board examination.
The incident took place at a private school in Pithampura town during the mathematics paper. Around two hours after the exam began, the student complained of severe abdominal pain and sought permission to go to the washroom. When she did not return for a while, school authorities checked on her and discovered that she had given birth to a baby boy.
Female staff members immediately stepped in to support the girl and both she and the newborn were taken to a government community health centre in an ambulance. Doctors attending to them said both mother and child are stable. Initial medical assessment indicated that the baby was born prematurely at around 34 weeks of pregnancy.
The police have registered a case under relevant legal provisions and the matter has been transferred to Betma police station for further investigation.
In her statement, the teenager alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by a boy she met during a dance programme and that she remained silent due to fear and threats. Authorities have said the investigation is ongoing and necessary action will be taken in accordance with the law.
