Odisha train derailment: Around 50 feared death and more than 180 injured after Coromandel Express derails near Bahanaga station in Balasore, Odisha
According to CPRO Southern Railway, several bogies are reported to have derailed.
The Special Relief Commissioner Office said that teams have rushed to the spot for search and rescue operation.
Balasore Collector has also been directed to reach the spot to make all necessary arrangements and intimate the SRC if any additional help is required from the state level, added Special Relief Commissioner Office.
Mamata Banerjee also took to his Twitter handle and reacted to the accident. She wrote, "Shocked to know that the Shalimar- Coromondel express, carrying passengers from West Bengal, collided with a goods train near Balasore today evening and some of our outbound people have been seriously affected/ injured. We are coordinating with Odisha government and South Eastern Railways for our people's sake. Our emergency control room has been activated at once with numbers 033- 22143526/ 22535185. All out efforts for rescue, retrieval, aid and assistance initiated."

The government has provided several helpline numbers -- 033-26382217, 8972073925, 67822 62286, 9332392339.
Meanwhile, NDRF's 1st team of 22 members from Balasore Railway Station (BLS) already reached the site. Another team from Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) of 32 members started half an hour before.
