Amid farmers' protest in India, Prime Minister Modi embarks on UAE visit

New Delhi, February 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kicked off a two-day official visit to the UAE and Qatar amidst ongoing farmers' protests in India. The Prime Minister expressed his eagerness to meet the President of the UAE, referring to him as his "brother" with whom he shares a strong rapport.

Before his departure, PM Narendra Modi took to social media platform X to convey his anticipation for the visit, highlighting his upcoming engagements in the UAE, including meetings with the UAE leadership, community interactions, and the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, using X, emphasised the significance of PM Modi's visit, outlining his agenda in the UAE, including participation as the Guest of Honour at the World Government Summit in Dubai.

During his stay in the UAE, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with whom he previously interacted during the 'Vibrant Gujarat 2024' event. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, focusing on economic areas such as energy security, trade, infrastructure, and digital connectivity.

In a social media post, PM Modi mentioned that this visit marks his seventh to the UAE since assuming office, underscoring the importance of the India-UAE friendship. He will also attend the World Government Summit 2024, delivering a special keynote address.

The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi, emphasising the values of harmony and peace shared by India and the UAE. Additionally, PM Modi will address the Indian diaspora in Abu Dhabi at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, with the 'Ahlan Modi' event garnering significant attention from the Indian expatriate community.

PM Modi's visit to the UAE precedes his trip to Doha, Qatar, where he will engage in bilateral meetings with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and other high dignitaries.

Notably, amidst these diplomatic engagements, farmers continue to protest in India, highlighting the challenges and complexities faced by the government on both domestic and international fronts.
