Drills in 3 border states Gujarat, J&K and Rajasthan tomorrow; in Punjab on June 3
Punjab mock drill: In a significant security preparedness move, mock drills will be conducted simultaneously in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir amid India-Pakistan tension tomorrow. Although the name of Punjab was also in the list, the state has conveyed to the Centre that it would be conducting the mock drill on June 3 under Operation Shield from 7.30 pm onwards.
According to sources, the drill is being carried out as a precautionary measure due to heightened tensions with Pakistan and lack of trust in that nation's intent. Government officials have confirmed that the entire administration, including disaster management teams and law enforcement agencies, is on high alert and fully prepared to participate.
The drill will simulate emergency response scenarios such as airspace threats, cross-border intrusions, and urban evacuation protocols. Local authorities have urged citizens not to panic and to cooperate with officials during the exercise.
This is not the first time Punjab has been part of such drills, but the timing, amidst growing geopolitical instability, adds new urgency to the exercise.
