Radhika Yadav murder case: Autopsy reveals tennis player was shot four times, not three as stated in FIR
PTC Web Desk: An autopsy conducted on state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav has revealed that she was shot four times, contrary to the initial claim in the FIR which mentioned three gunshot wounds. The postmortem examination confirmed four entry wounds, clarifying that one bullet had a through-and-through trajectory—entering and exiting the body—causing injuries at two different locations. This detail may have contributed to the discrepancy in the initial police report.
Radhika, 25, was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their residence in Gurugram on Thursday. According to the police, the incident stemmed from a long-standing family dispute over Radhika's tennis academy, which her father wanted her to shut down. Despite repeated requests, Radhika refused, insisting on continuing her coaching venture.
Following the murder, Deepak Yadav was arrested and has confessed to the crime during police interrogation. Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar stated that the accused was displeased with his daughter running the academy, citing that their family was financially secure and she had no need to work. In a moment of rage, Deepak allegedly used his licensed firearm to shoot Radhika.
The case took another turn when a music video featuring Radhika surfaced online after her death, going viral across social media platforms. Speculations arose that the video may have further strained the father-daughter relationship. However, police officials have dismissed these claims as unverified, asserting that no evidence linking the video to the crime has emerged in the investigation so far.
Deepak Yadav was produced in court on Friday and has been remanded to police custody for one day. The police say the remand is necessary to recover remaining ammunition reportedly hidden on a plot of land owned by the family near Rewari.
“We’ve secured one-day police remand to retrieve the ammunition. The accused has a plot near Rewari village, and the remaining bullets are suspected to be stored there,” said Inspector Vinod Kumar, SHO of Sector 56 Police Station.
