Raise voice against America: PM Modi's post from 2011 goes viral after Rana was cleared of 26/11 charges

PTC News Desk: An old video of PM Modi dating back to 2011 is doing rounds on social media in which he can be heard saying that India must voice its concern against US actions after it cleared Rana of charges pertaining to 26/11.

The video dates back to 2011 when PM Modi was in opposition and Chief Minister of Gujarat. PM Modi had criticised the UPA government's foreign policy after the US cleared Tahawwur Rana of charges related to cooperating in the deadly 26/11 attacks in Mumbai in 2011.

"A court in America's Chicago has ordered to free Rana. This has raised a new question for every power and every government fighting against terrorism. I hope that the Indian government will immediately give its response to the issue," he said.

"The Indian government should raise its voice against America and take tough decisions against America's attitude towards Pakistan. This is the need of the hour. Otherwise, one after the other, criminals will be swarming to America. Their cases will be heard in American courts and they will be pronounced not guilty," Modi added.

A special National Investigative Agency (NIA) court on Friday sent 26/11 plotter Tahawwur Rana to 18-day custody. Initially the central investigative agency had sought 20 days remand for Rana.

Earlier on Thursday, Tahawwur Hussain Rana arrived in India following his extradition by the United States. The anti-terror agency has presented compelling evidence, including emails sent by 26/11 Mumbai attacks accused Tahawwur Rana, to justify his police custody. The agency informed the court that custodial interrogation is crucial to uncovering the sinister plot. Investigators will also examine Rana's role in orchestrating the deadly terror attacks.
