Rajasthan: Rescue operation for 5-year-old Aryan trapped in 150-foot borewell enters Day 2

PTC Web Desk: The rescue operation to save five-year-old Aryan, who fell into a 150-foot-deep borewell in Dausa district, Rajasthan, continued into its second day on Tuesday. Rescuers reported spotting movement through a camera at around 2 am, approximately 13 hours after the child fell into the borewell.

The rescue team is currently digging a parallel borewell to reach Aryan, while oxygen is being supplied through a pipe to ensure his safety. Efforts are also underway to pull him out using a rope and other specialised equipment.

Several earthmovers and tractors have been deployed to assist in digging the parallel shaft, according to an official on the site. Aryan had been playing on an agricultural farm in Kalikhad village when he fell into the uncovered borewell at around 3 pm on Monday. The rescue operation began an hour later and has been ongoing since then. Multiple strategies are being employed to safely extract the child.

A large-scale digging operation is underway next to the borewell using 10 JCB machines, 20 tractors, and three LNT machines. Additionally, the NDRF team is utilising a rod resembling an iron ring to attempt a direct rescue from the borewell. To prevent Aryan from falling further, an umbrella-like iron net has been placed inside the borewell as a precautionary measure.

NDRF Commandant Yogesh Kumar Meena said the operation had been ongoing for over 22 hours. However, challenges persist, including an obstruction inside the borewell. To address this, an umbrella-like net has been deployed to stop Aryan from slipping into water. Next, an L-shaped tool will be lowered into the borewell to aid in extracting the child safely. Efforts are continuing round the clock.
