It's true that high-stakes exams like NEET can put a significant amount of stress on students, and in some unfortunate cases, the pressure can lead to mental health issues, including thoughts of self-harm or taking their life. This is a serious and concerning issue across Nation.

In the shocking and horrific incident from Rajasthan’s Kota, a 21-year-old National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant takes own life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her hostel room.

The dreadful incident unfolded on November 29, marking the 29th case in Kota this year, amplifying concerns in this educational hub that attracts students nationwide for competitive exam coaching

The 21-year-old girl has been identified as Nisha Yadav, resident of the Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh and was staying in the Mahavir Nagar area of the city for her medical exam preparation.

The heart breaking incident came to limelight when on intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, victim’s father tried to contact the aspirant, but she did not answer the call. Following that, Nisha’s father contacted other staff and friends of Nisha in hostel and after long wait and period when Nisha did not opened the door, hostel authorities broke the door and found her hanging on ceiling.

Kota has been grappling with a distressing surge in student taking their life or self-harming them recently, prompting local authorities to take preventive measures. Mandatory installation of anti-hanging devices in coaching centers' ceiling fans has been ordered, and institutes have been directed to refrain from conducting any exams for a two-month period. These steps aim to address the alarming rise in such tragic incidents and ensure student well-being within this competitive academic environment.
