Ram Lalla idol decision today, 3 designs in contest
New Delhi, December 29: Today, the selection of Lord Ram Lalla's idol for the grand Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya takes place through a voting process. This crucial decision, set for the temple's construction and consecration on January 22, unfolds during the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra's meeting.
The trust, overseeing temple construction and management, will evaluate three distinct designs crafted by different sculptors. The design receiving the highest votes will grace the sanctum sanctorum during the consecration ceremony. Champat Rai, the trust secretary, shared that a 51-inch-tall idol of Lord Ram, portraying a five-year-old Ram Lalla, will be chosen based on divine qualities and a childlike appearance.
Nripendra Misra, the Shri Ram Mandir Construction Committee chairman, inspected the ongoing work on the Ram Janmabhoomi Path and temple complex. Emphasizing quality over haste, the construction follows a meticulous three-phase plan for the entire project.
The consecration ceremony, spanning seven days from January 16, initiates with an atonement ceremony led by the temple trust's appointed host. Key events include the procession with the child-like idol, ritualistic baths, worship, and fire rituals.
January 22 marks the ceremony's culmination, featuring morning and afternoon pujas, setting the idol's permanent abode under the propitious 'Mrigashira Nakshatra'.

This ambitious project integrates cutting-edge facilities such as sewage and water treatment plants, a fire brigade post, and a dedicated power line, promising modern infrastructure within the compound. Champat Rai, sharing insights, emphasized, "The atmanirbhar (self-sufficient) complex will serve not only as a spiritual haven but also as a beacon of responsible environmental practices."
