Ranya Rao smuggling case: CBI takes over gold smuggling case, to work closely with DRI
PTC News Desk: In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the gold smuggling case while intensifying the investigation. The CBI team has reached Bengaluru and will now work in close coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
The case, regarded as one of Karnataka’s largest gold seizures, has also drawn heightened attention to Rao’s husband, Jatin Hukkeri. Authorities claim that he often accompanied the actress on trips to Dubai, where she was allegedly involved in gold smuggling.

Rao hails from Chikamagaluru, Karnataka, and earned an engineering degree from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in Bangalore.
She made her film debut in 2014, starring alongside Kannada superstar Sudeep in Maanikya, a remake of the 2013 Telugu film Mirchi. In the film, she plays Manasa, a woman from an influential family who falls in love with Sudeep’s character.
Rao also appeared in the Tamil film Wagah (2016) opposite Vikram Prabhu. In the movie, she portrays Prabhu’s love interest, a Pakistani woman whom his character, an Indian soldier, must escort back home amidst escalating riots in Kashmir.
In the 2017 Kannada comedy Pataki, she took on the role of Sangeetha, a journalist and the love interest of Ganesh’s character.
Rao has claimed to be the stepdaughter of IPS officer and Director General of Police (Police Housing Corporation), Ramachandra Rao.
