'Sold farmland for son's education': Father breaks down as he grieves loss of doctor son in Jharkhand crash
PTC News Desk: Heart-wrenching scenes unfolded in Jharkhand as families of the crash victims recounted horror while struggling to contain their tears. Among the shattered families were father of a young doctor, who sold his farmland to fund his son's education.
Visibly shattered and struggling to contain his grief, father of the deceased doctor, Vikash Kumar Gupta, spoke about the sacrifices made to educate his son and questioned why patients are forced to travel outside the state for advanced treatment.
My elder son was posted in the Sadar Hospital, Ranchi. If there had been proper health facilities here, why would they have gone to Delhi for treatment? I had sold my farmland and other things for his education."

The doctor was among the seven people killed when a Redbird Airways air ambulance crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Monday evening while flying from Ranchi to Delhi on a medical evacuation mission.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the aircraft lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at 7:34 pm, about 100 nautical miles south-east of Varanasi. The Civil Aviation Ministry’s investigation wing, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), will visit RedBird Aviation’s Delhi office and is likely to collect documents linked to the crashed plane.
