Tragic electrocution incident claims lives of five Kanwariyas in Meerut

Meerut, July 16: A devastating incident occurred in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where five Kanwariyas lost their lives and five others sustained injuries due to electrocution. The incident occurred when their vehicle came into contact with a low-hanging high-tension power line.

The tragic incident took place in Bhawanpur's Rali Chauhan village in Meerut district during the evening hours on Saturday. The vehicle carrying the Kanwariyas accidentally brushed against the 11kv power line, resulting in the electrocution.

Local residents promptly arrived at the scene and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared five Kanwariyas dead, while two others remain in critical condition due to the electric shock.

Following the incident, local residents gathered in the area and staged a demonstration, demanding action in response to the incident. Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed the tragic event, stating that a team of doctors and officials has been assigned to provide necessary assistance and treatment to the victims. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.

In a separate incident, a 38-year-old Kanwariya was injured when a taxi struck him on a flyover in Vasant Vihar. The driver responsible for the accident was apprehended by the police.

The electrocution incident in Meerut resulting in the deaths of five Kanwariyas has brought immense grief to the community. Authorities are taking necessary steps to support the injured and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
