Twisha Sharma death case: CBI investigates who assisted Samarth Singh while being on the run as agency widens probe into escape trail
PTC News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the suicide case of former model and actor Twisha Sharma, has gathered fresh details from the interrogation of the prime accused, Samarth Singh, regarding his movements after her death and during the time the Madhya Pradesh Police was on the lookout for him.
According to the sources, Samarth told CBI officials that he stayed in Bhopal for two days following Twisha’s death before travelling to Jabalpur, where he remained until May 22, when he surrendered before a local court.
The revelations have now shifted the focus of the investigation to the identification of all those who may have been involved in providing assistance to Samarth while he was on the run.
The probe agency is also expected to interrogate seveal doctors linked to the case in the wake of allegations levelled by Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, who had claimed that Twisha was addicted to drugs and had consumed them in large quantities. According to Giribala Singh, this was one of the main reason doctors had approved a Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) procedure.
Officials are also examining Twisha's consultations with a psychiatrist as part of the ongoing investigation. The CBI is expected to question both her treating doctors and the psychiatrist to verify claims made by Giribala Singh and determine whether medical records support those assertions.
Investigators will scrutinise medical documents and compare them with witness statements to piece together the events leading up to Twisha's death.
The CBI recently took over the case after re-registering an FIR originally filed by the Madhya Pradesh Police against Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh. Twisha, 33, was allegedly found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12.
Before the probe was handed over to the central agency, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Madhya Pradesh Police had arrested Samarth, a lawyer from Jabalpur, and brought him to Bhopal. A local court later remanded him to seven days of police custody.
Twisha's family has accused her in-laws of subjecting her to dowry-related harassment following her marriage on December 9, 2025. They allege that sustained mental and physical abuse by her husband and in-laws pushed her to take the extreme step.
