UP CM Yogi calls faecal bacteria report 'opposition propaganda', says 'Sangam water fit for bathing'
PTC News Desk: Amid row over presence of faecal bacteria, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has debunked the allegations while describing them as malicious. CM Yogi said that the water quality at Prayagraj during the ongoing Maha Kumbh was fit to take a dip and perform aachman (drinking holy water) while slamming the opposition for spreading propaganda that it was unfit for bathing.
The remarks came after the National Green Tribunal informed Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) about presence of faecal bacteria in some rivers in Prayagraj deeming them unfit for bathing.
While speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, CM Yogi also took a dig and slammed opposition for spreading propaganda and making baseless allegations by showing fake videos. He further said that over 56.25 crore devotees have already taken a holy dip during the Maha Kumbh and several celebrities who have had a bath praised the arrangements.
"More than 56.25 crore devotees have already taken their holy dip in Prayagraj... When we make any baseless allegations or show fake videos against Sanatan Dharma, Maa Ganga, India or the Maha Kumbh, it is like playing with the faith of these 56 crore people," the Chief Minister said.
Meanwhile offering condolences to the victims of the Maha Kumbh stampede that took place on January 29, Yogi Adityanath said, “Our sympathies are with all those who were victims of the stampede... and those who lost their lives in road accidents while travelling for Kumbh. Our condolences are with the family members, the government stands with them, the government will help them in every possible way but how appropriate is it to politicise this?”
