UP school horror: Ex-lover drags teacher, shoots her in front of students, later dies by suicide
PTC News Desk: A 27-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his former girlfriend, a teacher, inside a school in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri before taking his own life, police said.
The incident happened around 11:30 am on Monday at Children's Academy School. The victim was identified as 26-year-old teacher Nishat Fatima, who had been working at the school for about a year.
Police said Fatima and Mohammad Saud had been in a relationship, but she had recently ended it.
According to police, Saud entered the school carrying a pistol hidden inside a bag. He called Fatima downstairs and then took her to a corridor on an upper floor. A staff member followed them.
During their conversation, Saud allegedly pulled out the gun and shot Fatima in the head. He then shot himself. Both died at the scene.
Students witnessed the incident
CCTV footage reportedly showed Saud pulling Fatima by the arm toward the upper floor while students were nearby. She appeared to resist as he dragged her.
Witnesses said they heard four gunshots, which caused panic among students and school staff. Employees alerted the police, who quickly reached the school.
The school has students up to Class 5. Police are examining CCTV footage and reviewing the school's security and entry procedures.
Officials said more details will become clear after the post-mortem examination. Police will also review the school's security arrangements and take corrective measures if any shortcomings are found.
