Woman doctor from Haryana detained in connection with 'white-collar terror module'

PTC News Desk: A woman doctor from Haryana was detained for questioning after officials followed the trail of what has been described as white-collar terror module with associations spanning across Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi.

Dr Priyanka Sharma of Rohtak in Haryana posted at a government medical college in south Kashmir was detained for interrogation. Counter-intelligence teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police raided a rented accommodation in Anantnag's Malaknag area.

A mobile phone and SIM card recovered from the premises have been sent for forensic analysis. According to sources, Dr. Sharma’s name emerged after the arrest of Adeel, a former GMC Anantnag employee whose interrogation pointed investigators toward people suspected of offering logistical or financial support to the terror network. Call-detail records eventually led officers to her residence. Officials said a Haryana police team is likely to reach Anantnag soon to verify her background.

Meanwhile, leads from Kashmir have triggered a simultaneous crackdown in Uttar Pradesh, where nearly 200 medical students and doctors of Kashmiri origin are now under watch. The Anti-Terrorism Squad has contacted educational institutions that have Kashmiri students, and colleges in Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Saharanpur and other cities are being examined closely.

These developments coincide with intensified investigations by Delhi Police and central agencies into the Red Fort blast that killed 13 people earlier this month.

On Friday night, three men — including two doctors from Haryana’s Al-Falah University — were arrested during coordinated raids across Dhauj, Nuh and nearby areas. The university itself is now under legal scrutiny, with Delhi Police’s Crime Branch registering two FIRs for cheating and forgery following UGC and NAAC complaints about serious irregularities. A police team also visited the university’s Okhla office on Saturday to gather information related to the suspects.
