New Delhi, April 27: Amid a spike in Covid-19 cases and to take stock of the current situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a virtual review meeting with Chief Ministers.

Addressing the Chief Ministers via virtual review meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the fight against Covid 19 had not ended yet. Omicron and its variants could still cause havoc as witnessed in the nations of Europe.

He said, "Despite managing the Covid crisis, as compared to other countries, we can see cases' uptick in states now. We have to stay alert. It's clear that the Covid challenge has yet not been surpassed," said PM Modi after interacting with state CMs on the Covid-19 situation in the country. PM Modi further said, "It was a matter of pride for every citizen that 96 per cent of our adult population has been vaccinated with the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 85 per cent of the eligible population above 15 years of age has been inoculated with the second dose." He said they would have to keep increasing awareness about the precautionary dose. Teachers, parents and every eligible person could take the precautionary dose to further protect themselves from Covid-19, added PM Modi. The Prime Minister laid stress on following 'Test, Track & Treat' strategy to stop infections at the earliest stage. "The schools have opened after a long time and this rise in cases is a cause of concern for the parents. But the good news is we'll start vaccinating 6-12 age group with Covaxin," said the PM.
