Goa Assembly Elections 2022: The Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah on Sunday said that Goa needs a people-first government which only BJP can provide. The Home Minister was speaking at the launch of a poll campaign in Vasco da Gama city ahead of crucial state elections. During the event, Shah also took a jibe at Congress, saying that the party can only provide a "family-first" government. Addressing a Town hall meet in the city on Sunday, Shah remarked, "Goa needs a people-first government. Congress can give you a government, but it will be family-first. Goa will only remain a tourism destination for the family if Congress comes to power." Further, the senior BJP leader said that ex-Goa Chief Minister and Congress leader Digambar Kamat's government was known for "three As". No state can develop with these 'As'. Only BJP can give the people-first government," Shah added. Shah asserted that former Goa Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar who laid the foundation stone of BJP in Goa halted the misrule of Congress in the coastal state. He also claimed that during the BJP's ten years in power in Goa, the party established a solid foundation for development and improved the state's infrastructure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked to boost Goa tourism to a worldwide level, he added. "Goa is famous for tourism. To bring Goa's tourism to the international level, a conference of BRICS countries was organized here in which the presidents of 15 countries came here. PM Modi worked to bring tourism on the international platform," the Home Minister added. Prior to this campaign, Shah who is currently on a visit to poll-bound Goa also held a door-to-door campaign in Sanvordem town and addressed a public gathering. After offering prayers at the Sai Baba shrine in Borim town, he addressed another public rally in Ponda city. BJP has fielded its candidates on all 40 assembly seats for the upcoming Goa Elections. The assembly elections in Goa will be held on February 14 and The results will be announced on March 10.
