Delhi Exit Poll Results: BJP poised for a comeback in Delhi after 27 years; exit polls predict AAP's downfall

PTC Web Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has struggled to gain ground in Delhi’s Assembly elections for the past two decades, is predicted to make a strong comeback, according to multiple exit polls. If the forecasts hold true, the BJP could return to power in the national capital after 27 years.

The results indicate a significant setback for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal. The party, which dominated the last two elections with massive victories in 2015 and 2020, now faces the prospect of a steep decline in its seat share. Meanwhile, the Congress, which once ruled Delhi under Sheila Dikshit’s leadership, is expected to win only 1–2 seats, reflecting its continued struggles in the city.

Although exit polls are not always accurate, the majority of them suggest a clear advantage for the BJP.

Here’s what different pollsters have predicted:

PMarq: BJP is projected to win between 39 and 49 seats, while AAP may secure 21 to 31 seats.

Times Now JVC: BJP is expected to get 39–45 seats, while AAP could win between 22 and 31 seats.

People’s Pulse: This survey gives the BJP the highest estimate of 51–60 seats, with AAP trailing at 10–19 seats.

Matrize: The only pollster predicting a close contest, Matrize projects 35–40 seats for the BJP and 32–37 seats for AAP.

A party needs at least 36 seats to form the government in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. An average of four exit polls suggests the BJP may secure around 42 seats, while AAP could be reduced to just 25 seats.

Uncertainty in Exit Polls

While the numbers indicate a major political shift in Delhi, past elections have shown that exit polls can sometimes be misleading. The final results, which will be declared soon, will determine whether the BJP’s predicted resurgence holds or if AAP defies the odds for a third consecutive term.

All eyes are now on the official counting of votes, which will ultimately decide the fate of Delhi’s leadership.
