Lalu Yadav expels son Tej Pratap from party, family over 'irresponsible conduct
PTC News Desk: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from the party for six years, citing his "irresponsible conduct" and ignorance towards family's values and public decorum.
"The elder son's activities, public behaviour and irresponsible conduct are not in line with our family's values. In the current circumstances, I remove him from the party and the family. From now on, he will have no role in the party and the family. He has been expelled from the party for six years," the veteran leader said.
"Whoever wants to keep in touch with him can decide independently. I have always advocated decorum in public life. The obedient members of the family have followed this," he further added.
Tej Pratap's ouster follows a purported social media post which spoke of his long-standing relationship with Anushka Yadav, saying that they have been in love and in a relationship for the past 12 years. However, he later claimed that his social media handle was hacked and the pictures were doctored to defame him and his family.
"I am Tej Pratap Yadav and the girl who is seen with me in this picture is Anushka Yadav. We both have known each other for the last 12 years and love each other deeply. We have been in a relationship throughout these years. I wanted to share this with all of you for a long time, but couldn't find the right words. Today, through this post, I am opening my heart to you. I hope you all will understand," the post read.
Meanwhile Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal(United) slammed Lalu Prasad Yadav and called the expulsion a mere eyewash in the backdrop of Bihar assembly elections.
"Lalu ji is misleading. Why did his conscience not awake when the Lalu family committed a heinous sin against Aishwarya (Tej Pratap Yadav's former wife). This is pure immorality. He is misleading the people at the time of the elections and after the polls, Tej Pratap will be taken back into the party," JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said.
