Lok Sabha Election 2024: AAP announces candidates for Delhi and Haryana
PTC News Desk: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, revealing four sitting legislators for various constituencies. This decision followed the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Tuesday, presided over by Kejriwal himself.
In Delhi, AAP has nominated candidates for the New Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi, and East Delhi constituencies. Somnath Bharti has been named for New Delhi, Mahabal Mishra for West Delhi, Kuldeep Kumar for East Delhi, and Sahiram for South Delhi.
The selection of candidates for Delhi is critical for AAP, especially considering that the BJP secured all seven Lok Sabha seats in the city during the 2014 and 2019 general elections.
AAP recently reached a seat-sharing agreement with its ally Congress in Delhi. As per the arrangement, AAP will contest in four seats while Congress will field candidates in three constituencies. Additionally, AAP has designated Sushil Gupta as its sole candidate to contest from Kurukshetra in Haryana.

Apart from Delhi, AAP and Congress have finalized seat-sharing agreements in Haryana, Gujarat, Chandigarh, and Goa. However, they were unable to reach a similar agreement in Punjab. AAP had earlier announced its intention to contest all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab. Gopal Rai from AAP mentioned earlier today that the names of AAP's candidates for Punjab Lok Sabha seats will be announced shortly.
