Ludhiana West Bypoll Results LIVE UPDATES: Aam Aadmi Party's candidate and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora secured victory in the Ludhiana assembly byelection with  35,179 votes, closely followed by Congress' Bharat Bhushan Ashu who was restricted at 10, 637 votes.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had described it as a battle between 'humility' and 'arrogance'.

The Ludhiana West seat in Punjab fell vacant after sitting AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi died of a self-inflicted bullet injury in January. The AAP, that had been striving to retain power in Punjab since the brutal loss in the Delhi Assembly elections, has retained the seat.

The high stakes battle was between AAP's Sanjeev Arora, BJP's Jeewan Gupta, and Congress veteran Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Meanwhile Shiromani Akali Dal had fielded Parupkar Singh Ghuman as its candidate for the bypoll.

The bypoll is seen as a litmus test for CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP’s popularity among urban voters. The Congress, on the other hand, had sought to reclaim its traditional stronghold, while the BJP attempted to expand its urban base in Punjab.
