Nitish Kumar ends speculations of his PM candidature, says 'no desire at all'

Begusarai (Bihar), February 16: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday ended speculations of his candidature for Prime Minister from Mahagathbandhan, saying he has no desire to become PM.

Kumar went on to say that he keeps telling the members of his party not to raise slogans for him as he has no desire to become Prime Minister in 2024. "I keep telling them not to do that. I have no desire at all," he said.

Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav dismissed Kumar's desire to become Prime Minister, saying the veteran leader is more concerned with uniting the opposition for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"He (CM Nitish Kumar) is the CM and we are working under his guidance. The only agenda he has right now is bringing all opposition together. He has no desire to become the Prime Minister," Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav stated.

Nitish Kumar has been on a statewide 'Samadhan Yatra' since January 5. During the yatra, which will pass through 18 districts, public feedback on the state's work over the last 18 years will be compiled.

As part of his 'Samadhan Yatra,' the Bihar chief minister visited several blocks in the Bhojpur district on January 25.

The objective of the yatra is to review the implementation of government schemes and meet with officials.

Kumar began the yatra in West Champaran's Bettiah. The Bihar Cabinet Secretariat Department has published a detailed schedule of the yatra.
