Sharad Pawar's potential absence raises questions as Supriya Sule represents NCP at Opposition meeting

Bengaluru, July 17: Sharad Pawar, a prominent figure in the opposition's efforts to form a united front against the BJP, is expected to skip the major opposition meeting in Bengaluru. This comes after his nephew, Ajit Pawar, parted ways with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and joined the BJP government in Maharashtra led by Eknath Shinde.

While Sharad Pawar was present at the previous opposition meeting in Patna, his daughter Supriya Sule, who was recently appointed as the NCP's working president, will attend the meeting alone.

The reason for Sharad Pawar's absence has not been disclosed. He has been instrumental in the opposition's endeavors to challenge the BJP in the 2024 national elections by uniting various parties. The meeting in Bengaluru, called by the Congress, will be attended by top leaders from 24 opposition parties to strategize for the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal has decided to participate in the meeting following the Congress's support for the party's stance against a central order regarding control over Delhi's bureaucracy. Notable leaders attending the meeting include Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, MK Stalin, Nitish Kumar, and Hemant Soren.

However, leaders like K Chandrasekhar Rao, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu, and Naveen Patnaik will be absent from the gathering.
