Sikh man assaulted in England: An elderly Sikh man was found seriously injured on a roadside in Smethwick, England, in an incident that has shocked the local community. The police have arrested two teenagers in connection with the case and are continuing their investigation.
The incident reportedly took place on the night of June 14. A video that later surfaced on social media showed the elderly man lying near bushes and a pile of rubbish beside a road. He appeared badly injured, with torn clothes, visible wounds and blood on his head.
People who were present at the scene rushed to help the man and tried to speak with him. However, he appeared to be in severe pain and was unable to respond properly. Witnesses immediately called emergency services after seeing his condition.
Some people at the scene claimed they noticed marks on his body that looked like burn injuries. This led to concerns that the victim may have not only been assaulted but also subjected to an attempt to burn him. The police have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances but said all possibilities are being investigated.
When officers arrived, they assessed the victim's condition and attempted to communicate with him while medical assistance was provided. The man was later taken for treatment.
According to West Midlands Police, two 17-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with the attack. One of the suspects has already appeared before a court and has been remanded to a youth detention facility. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 17.
The second teenager remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The police said they are examining all aspects of the case, including the motive behind the attack. Authorities have urged anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
