'Time running out for corrupt AAP leaders in Punjab: SAD after resignation of Sisodia, Jain

Chandigarh, February 28: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday said that time was running out for corrupt Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers and officers supporting them, adding 'that they would meet the same fate as Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain.'

Reacting to the resignation of Sisodia and Jain, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia said “the scams the AAP leadership has perpetuated in Punjab on the command of its Convener Arvind Kejriwal are even bigger than what they are being hauled up for in Delhi”.

He said the arrest of Sisodia and Jain had opened the way for the prosecution of corrupt ministers and officers who had acted in the same manner in Punjab. “These corrupt persons have looted the State exchequer to enrich AAP and its boss Arvind Kejriwal and fuel the latter’s national electoral agenda”, Majitha asserted.

Demanding a thorough probe into the corrupt activities of the AAP ministers in Punjab, Majithia said the scope of the CBI inquiry into the Delhi excise scam should be extended to Punjab. “This is important as the actors and directors in both the Delhi and Punjab excise policy are the same. The modus operandi to loot the State exchequer is also the same”.

He said similarly a CBI probe should also be ordered into the sand mining scam under which the AAP government had cut underhand deals with the mafia and reallocated cancelled contracts to mafia kings.

Majithia said the AAP government was also playing havoc with government schemes which had been appropriated by the party and were being run like AAP schemes. “The manner in which rural dispensaries have been turned into Aam Aadmi Clinics is a case in point”.

He also asserted that large-scale corruption had occurred in converting the rural dispensaries into Aam Aadmi clinics.

Asserting that these scams and cases of corruption totalled up to misappropriation of hundreds of crores, Majithia said “only a CBI probe can lay bare the main actors and expose their tentacles which reach up to the AAP high command in Delhi”.

He also demanded a separate Enforcement Directorate probe into charges of money laundering done by AAP to finance its elections in various States through money pilfered from Punjab’s exchequer. He also called for a  separate probe into the blatant misuse of Punjab government funds to advertise AAP’s achievements in other States.
