Winter Session Day 1: Parliament echoes with chants of 'teesri bar Modi sarkar'
PTC News Desk: The Lok Sabha erupted in cheers this morning as the Parliament's Winter Session began, welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A day after the BJP won all three of the core states' assembly elections, chants of "teesri bar Modi sarkar" echoed across the Lok Sabha.
Along with Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Nitin Gadkari, the prime minister was seated in the front row. Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, BJP members seated in rows behind him cheered and clapped in approval of his return to power for a third term.
The BJP contested in the most recent assembly elections with neither a collective leadership that portrayed PM Modi as the party's face nor any chief ministerial faces.
The Winter Session began just a day after the state election results were declared. The BJP also retained power in Madhya Pradesh while dethroned Congress in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
After ten years in power, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi lost Telangana to the Congress.
There will be fifteen sittings of the Winter Session until December 22.
