Akal Takht summons Harjot Bains over code violation at Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's martyrdom event in Srinagar
PTC Web Desk: Punjab Cabinet minister Harjot Singh Bains has been summoned to appear before the Akal Takht on August 6 regarding alleged violations of religious protocol during a commemorative event marking the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
The controversy surrounds the 350th martyrdom anniversary programme, which drew criticism for reportedly hurting Sikh sentiments. The Akal Takht has issued a formal notice to the minister, asking him to clarify his position in front of Panj Singh Sahibaan during their upcoming meeting.
Earlier, a scheduled meeting was postponed due to the death of a close relative of Giani Kuldeep Singh Gurgaj, acting Jathedar of Akal Takht. The rescheduled meeting will now take place at the Akal Takht Secretariat on August 6 at 9 am.
As per information, Cabinet minister Harjot Singh bains has been informed via email to appear and explain the circumstances surrounding the event. Punjab Language Department Director Jaswant Singh, who is currently abroad for a family function until August 12, will be summoned at a later date.
