Sri Akal Takht Sahib to deliberate on CM Mann’s explanation after five Singh Sahiban meeting: Jathedar Gargaj
PTC Web Desk: Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj on Thursday said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has submitted his explanation on various Sikh-related issues, which will now be examined by the five Singh Sahiban in an upcoming meeting.
Addressing a press conference, Giani Gargaj said the Chief Minister appeared at Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat and placed his clarification regarding the controversy surrounding an allegedly objectionable video and remarks related to Sikh traditions. “The explanation has been received and preserved. The matter will be discussed collectively by the five Sikh high priests in the coming days,” he said.
Referring to the viral video, the Jathedar said CM Mann claimed the clip was fake and expressed readiness for forensic verification. “We have asked him to suggest two laboratories so that the video can be examined and the truth established,” Giani Gargaj stated, adding that Sri Akal Takht harbours no animosity towards anyone and functions strictly according to Sikh principles and traditions.
He further said the Chief Minister also clarified his position on the issue related to the golak (donation box) and acknowledged that he should not have made certain remarks on sensitive religious matters. “The CM admitted that he lacks adequate knowledge of Sikh maryada and assured that he would refrain from making such statements in the future,” the acting Jathedar said.
Describing the interaction as cordial, Gargaj said the discussion took place in a positive atmosphere and that all concerns were conveyed respectfully. The final decision, he reiterated, would be taken collectively by the five Singh Sahiban after due deliberation.
Earlier in the day, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib to present his explanation in response to the summons issued over the recent controversies.
