Father killed, 9-year-old daughter critical after being crushed by road roller in Bathinda
PTC Web Desk: A tragic accident in Bathinda left a man dead and his young daughter critically injured after both were run over by a road roller in a residential lane. According to initial information, the incident took place in Ganesh Basti, Street No. 9, where the victim, identified as Vishal Gupta, was riding a scooter with his 9-year-old daughter, Mannat.
While attempting to move along the side of the lane, the scooter reportedly lost balance after skidding on loose gravel scattered near a house ramp. Both father and daughter fell onto the road.
At the same time, a road roller engaged in construction work was reversing in the narrow lane and allegedly ran over the duo before the operator could react. Vishal Gupta sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot, while his daughter suffered severe injuries.
Volunteers from a local welfare society rushed to the scene with an ambulance. The injured child was initially taken to a nearby private hospital but was later shifted to the Civil Hospital due to her critical condition. After preliminary treatment, she was referred again to a private facility for advanced care.
Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem examination.
