BSF seizes drones, pistol and heroin near Punjab-Pakistan border ahead of Diwali

PTC Web Desk: The Border Security Force (BSF) achieved a significant success just a day before Diwali, intercepting suspected activities along the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab. Teams from the BSF successfully confiscated five drones, a pistol, and a haul of heroin in Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts.

These seizures, occurring within a single day, underscore the BSF's heightened vigilance and proactive measures in ensuring border security. The force received credible intelligence regarding an attempt to smuggle drugs and weapons from across the border into Punjab. Acting promptly on this information, the BSF intensified patrols across various locations in Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts. Utilising advanced technology and training, the BSF maintained strict surveillance over suspicious activities and thwarted these attempts in a timely manner.

During the investigation, the BSF discovered five drones, all identified as Chinese-manufactured models, specifically the DJI Mavic Classic and DJI Air 3. Technical analysis of the drones confirmed that smugglers across the border are employing cutting-edge technology to transport narcotics and weapons into Indian territory.

In addition to the drones, the BSF recovered a pistol, which was likely intended for use in smuggling and other illegal activities. The operation also led to the seizure of 1.8 kg of heroin, which was divided into three packets and being transported via drone into Indian territory. The smugglers' attempts were foiled thanks to the BSF's vigilance, with the estimated international value of the seized narcotics amounting to approximately Rs 12 crore.

BSF officials stated that they remain vigilant against smuggling and illegal activities along the Punjab border. A senior BSF officer said, "Our teams are always alert and will not allow national security to be compromised under any circumstances."
