Expel Narain Singh Chaura from Sikh Panth: SGPC urges Sri Akal Takht Sahib
PTC Web Desk: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Monday convened an emergency meeting of its executive committee to discuss attack on SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal by Narain Singh Chaura at the Golden Temple complex on December 4. The attack was strongly condemned by the committee, and a formal appeal was made to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to expel the accused from Sikh Panth.
At the meeting, a special resolution was passed, condemning the attack on the SAD leader during the sewa being carried out at the Golden Temple. The committee also expressed grave concern over the attack’s potential to disturb the serene and spiritual atmosphere of the holy site. A committee was formed to investigate the incident, which the SGPC described as a deep-rooted conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the sanctity of the Sikh faith.
SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, who presided over the meeting, said the incident had deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs worldwide and created an atmosphere of fear within the Sikh community. He said this act not only disrespected the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib but also undermined the values of Meeri-Peeri, Sikh honour, and Sikh teachings.
The committee said the attack, along with the apparent lapses in security and administrative failures by the police, called for a thorough investigation into the involvement of others behind this plot. A special inquiry committee has been tasked with conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. The committee is expected to submit its report within three weeks.
After the meeting, SGPC officials, led by Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, also met Jathedar Giani Ragbir Singh to submit the passed resolution and formally request that action be taken to expel Narain Singh Chaura from the Sikh community for his actions.
