Fresh bomb threats to several schools in Chandigarh, Jalandhar; premises evacuated, security heightened
Jalandhar bomb threats: In a spate of threatening messages targeting multiple institutions in Punjab, fresh bomb threats have been issued to several schools in Jalandhar and Chandigarh on Monday, triggering panic across the authorities and parents.
Three schools in Jalandhar received bomb threat via emails threatening to blow up the premises. The email also mentioned the Mayor’s office
Additionally, a threat was made to target the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Amritsar on April 14.
The email was reportedly sent by the Khalistan National Army.
Meanwhile, four schools in Chandigarh also received similar threats triggering evacuation of the premises with deployment of bomb squad and security agencies.
Several teams of police officials and bomb disposal squads reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Every suspicious object is carefully being scrutinised.
So far, no suspicious items have been found, but the police are treating the matter seriously. A cyber team has also been assigned to identify the sender of the email.
